A Shinobi never told a 100% lie. In the art of ‘Kyojitsu’ (Truth and Falsehood), the most effective deception was built on 90% undeniable truth. By providing accurate intelligence that the enemy could verify, the Shinobi established themselves as a ‘reliable source.’ Only then would they inject the 10% ‘poison’—the crucial lie that would lead the enemy to make a fatal strategic error. This psychological anchor made the lie invisible and impossible to doubt.

This technique targets the human brain’s desire for consistency. Once we accept someone as truthful, our brains naturally filter out contradictions. The Shinobi understood this ‘confirmation bias’ centuries before modern psychology. By feeding the enemy what they ‘wanted’ to hear as the 10% lie, they ensured the information would be accepted without question. It was not just lying; it was an advanced form of perception management.
